Chiara and Thomas were married on the cliff overlooking the ocean at Point Vicente Interpretive Center in Palos Verdes.
Earlier this year they had a ceremony in Italy where Chiara is from, but they also wanted to share their wedding with their Los Angeles friends in the city where they first fell in love. Despite Thomas already having seen Chiara in her wedding dress, I swear every time he looks at her it’s as if he falls in love all over again. I highly encourage having a personalized ceremony like Chiara and Thomas did. The officiant told the story of how Chiara had a dream that she would be proposed to with a unique ring and a dreamcatcher necklace- Thomas had both of these custom made for the proposal. One of the highlights of the night for the guests was the gelato cart dessert, an small ode to Italy at this Los Angeles wedding.
You may notice that the colors in these photos look a bit different than my usual style; that’s because Chiara and Thomas wanted their wedding shot mainly on film. This allowed me to experiment with different film stocks other than my go to Fuji 400H. I was able to embrace the native color of each film stock, rather than feel the need to match the film colors to my usual bright and true to life style. I’m happy to say that 95% of the photos in this blog post are film. I’m so grateful to have had these two as clients. They allowed me to be super creative with my approach and they were patient with the extra time and care that must be taken when shooting film. I am also so lucky to have had my awesome second shooter Louis shooting film alongside me.
